Money in Play
At live cash poker online tables, chips are currency for betting but sometimes players will also have real cash in front of them too. Is keeping cash on the table proper protocol and does that money count as being available for betting? The answer is yes to both questions. All poker chips and money in front of any players are considered available for play. In fact, it is against the rules for a player to remove any chips or money that are in play on the table. If a player had to push most his chips in to make a call, but still has money on the table, the dealer can convert that money to chips if the player needs to make another call on the hand. When the bet exceeds the number of online poker chips in a player’s stack, but that player has money on the table too, then the money has to go into the pot to complete the call. When a player has to push all their chips in to make a call, and it is still short of the bet, that player cannot reach into his pocket for more money. Only the chips and any money that were on the table at the start of the hand can be played. After a player rakes in a big pot, all those chips must remain in play on the table. The player cannot convert them to cash and pocket the money while still playing. Players can only cash out their chips when they leave the table.
