All states have laws requiring collectors to quit calling a credit card holder if the borrower directs a Cease and Desist letter or a Power of Attorney letter which explains to the collecting company that a third party is in charge of taking care of all negotiations. Florida protects its consumers by inhibiting the nuisance from collection bureaus as well as the first creditor (the credit card issuer or loan company). The laws which restrict and control what a collection company is allowed to do will also limit the nuisance powers of first creditor.
